A sedentary lifestyle affects more than just the spine

See what spending long hours at a computer can lead to.

Author: Dr. Elfana Suleymanova Medically reviewed
  • Posture and spine. The muscles tighten, posture worsens, pain appears.
  • Face and asymmetry. Poor posture affects the position of the neck and, over time, shows up in facial symmetry.
  • Vision. Eye strain from screens causes tiredness and dryness in the eyes.
  • Skin. Staying in the same position for long hours slows circulation — your complexion may deteriorate.
  • Figure and excess weight. A sedentary lifestyle lowers muscle tone and slows metabolism.

Our body was not made to stay still for long periods. The less we move, the more low back, joint and muscle pain increases.

We look not at where the pain is, but at where it comes from.
