Therapeutic massage

A medical procedure that is used both as part of a comprehensive treatment program and on its own.

Therapeutic massage is used successfully to mobilize interstitial fluid, reduce edema, speed up local blood circulation, relieve pain, and release muscle shortening and adhesions.

The role of massage in scoliosis

Massage reduces the muscle tension that develops with scoliosis, improves blood circulation and eases pain. But remember: massage on its own does not straighten a curved spine. A comprehensive approach is essential in treating scoliosis — osteopathy, electrotherapy, correct exercise and specialist supervision.

When should you consider it?

  • Muscle pain and spasms
  • Myogelosis (muscle knots)
  • Insomnia and persistent fatigue
  • Scoliosis and kyphosis (as part of a treatment program)
  • Edema (swelling)
